Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1350m)
Welcome to Nepal! Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will greet you and arrange a comfortable transfer to your hotel. Once settled, you’ll enjoy a warm welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where we’ll provide a detailed briefing about the upcoming Langtang Valley Trek. You’ll also meet your guide, who will answer any questions about the journey. This evening marks the start of your incredible adventure trekking in Nepal.
Day 2: Drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (2380m) – 6/7 Hours
Today, you’ll leave Kathmandu behind and embark on a scenic drive to Syabrubesi, the starting point of the Langtang Trekking Route. As you travel along the winding roads, you’ll enjoy views of terraced fields, lush hills, and traditional villages nestled among the landscape. Following the course of the Bhote Koshi River, the drive offers a serene backdrop to begin your journey into the heart of Langtang Valley. Syabrubesi, a vibrant village with a welcoming atmosphere, will be your gateway to Langtang National Park.
Day 3: Trek from Syabrubesi to Lama Hotel (2500m) – 6/7 Hours
The trek begins! After breakfast, you’ll start hiking from Syabrubesi, ascending gently through dense forests of oak and rhododendron—a rich red panda habitat in Langtang National Park. Crossing suspension bridges and trekking alongside the Langtang River, you’ll feel immersed in the peaceful surroundings and natural beauty of the Langtang Valley scenery. The gradual climb offers glimpses of distant peaks, inspiring you to continue. After a fulfilling day, you’ll arrive at Lama Hotel, a cozy teahouse nestled amidst the trees, where you’ll unwind for the evening.
Day 4: Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village (3440m) – 6/7 Hours
Following a hearty breakfast, set off on a trail that ascends steadily through beautiful forests. As you gain altitude, the path opens up, revealing stunning views of the Langtang Lirung and other Himalayan peaks. The scenic trail through the valley leads you to Langtang Village, where you’ll be welcomed by the local Tamang community. Surrounded by snow-capped mountains, this charming village embodies the unique culture and spirit of Himalayan trekking in Nepal, making it a memorable part of the Langtang Trekking Route.
Day 5: Trek from Langtang Village to Kyanjin Gompa (3870m) – 4/5 Hours
Today’s trek takes you from Langtang Village to the tranquil Kyanjin Gompa. The trail winds through open pastures and scenic meadows, gradually revealing the dramatic peaks of Langtang Lirung and other majestic mountains. Upon arrival at Kyanjin Gompa, a small monastery village surrounded by mountain vistas, you’ll feel the serenity of this sacred place. Explore the monastery, take in the views, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance as you settle into this high-altitude haven.
Day 6: Acclimatization Day and Hike to Kyanjin Ri (4733m) – 8/9 Hours
After breakfast, embark on a challenging hike up to Kyanjin Ri, a viewpoint offering sweeping, 360-degree views of the Langtang Valley scenery and surrounding peaks. The ascent is steep but incredibly rewarding, with each step bringing you closer to breathtaking vistas of Langtang Lirung, glaciers, and the expansive valley below. Reaching the summit of Kyanjin Ri is a powerful experience, immersing you in the grandeur of Himalayan trekking in Nepal. After taking in the views, you’ll descend back to Kyanjin Gompa for a well-deserved rest.
Day 7: Trek from Kyanjin Gompa back to Lama Hotel (2500m) – 6/7 Hours
After a memorable stay at Kyanjin Gompa, you’ll retrace your steps back to Lama Hotel. This descent allows you to appreciate the scenery from a different perspective, as you pass glacial rivers in Langtang and lush forests filled with the sounds of nature. Enjoy the familiar trail, reflecting on your experiences in this stunning region, and savoring the sights and sounds of the Langtang Valley. By late afternoon, you’ll arrive back at Lama Hotel, where you can relax and share stories with fellow trekkers.
Day 8: Trek from Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi (2380m) – 5/6 Hours
Today, you’ll make your way back to Syabrubesi. The trail descends through the red panda habitat of Langtang National Park, allowing for a gentle, scenic walk. Alongside the Langtang River, the path takes you through quaint villages, lush forests, and terraced landscapes that capture the tranquility of trekking near Kathmandu. Arriving in Syabrubesi by the afternoon, you’ll have time to unwind, reflect on the unforgettable experiences of your Langtang Valley Trek, and enjoy the lively atmosphere of this village.
Day 9: Drive Back to Kathmandu from Syabrubesi – 6/7 Hours
Leaving the mountains behind, you’ll drive back to Kathmandu, returning to city life after your journey in the Himalayas. The road back offers a final chance to enjoy the stunning scenery of terraced fields, charming villages, and distant peaks. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, you’ll feel the bustling energy of the city once more, carrying with you the sense of accomplishment from your incredible trek in Langtang Valley.
Day 10: Departure from Kathmandu
Our representative will accompany you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your departure, marking the end of your Langtang Valley adventure. In November 2024, I had the opportunity to make use of Contour Expeditions to plan a trek to Everest Base Camp. Communication was great with the planning, accommodation, itinerary and trek information before I left. When I arrived I was met by the team in Kathmandu and they really did a great job in looking after me, including a welcome dinner and briefing session. They had everything arranged, including the flights to Lukla and back, as well as a really experienced, English speaking guide and a friendly capable porter. The trek went without a hitch, teahouse accommodation and 3 meals a day were provided. There seem to be hundreds of trekking and expedition companies in Nepal, however, I would be careful to do your research and make sure you choose a experienced company like Contour Expeditions. I will definitely be back to do another trek soon and would have no hesitation to make use of them again. Thank you Contour Expeditions for the fun, memorable experience.
